Charles Evelyn Smith belonged to numerous clubs in Richmond, Virginia. This collection contains letters from club secretaries concerning his membership in the Lakeside Club, Richmond Club, Richmond German Club, Richmond Tennis Club, and the Westmoreland Club. A letter from Harry S. Knapp, United States naval officer, congratulates Smith on his marriage and regrets his absence at the 1887 wedding. A scrap of business letterhead for Smith, Angus, & Co., provision brokers, is included in this collection.
